Job Description

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid California driver’s license
- Ability to pass KCUSD Food Service Test
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work 193 days per year with scheduled hours from 6:45 AM - 1:00 PM including 1/2-hour lunch
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods
- Ability to work in hot and cold environments
- Prior food service experience preferred
- Good personal hygiene and grooming
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior food service experience preferred
- Knowledge of sanitation principles applicable to food service and kitchen maintenance
- Basic math skills applicable to measurement and money handling
- Ability to add and make change correctly and quickly
- Ability to maintain good grooming and personal hygiene
- Ability to prepare simple foods such as hot and cold sandwiches
- Ability to learn to operate large quantity kitchen equipment
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
Job Duties
- Assist in the preparation of main dishes, vegetables, salads, fruits, sandwiches, and beverages
- Assist in baking of breads, cookies, cakes, pastries and other desserts
- Set up utensils and equipment for lunches
- Serve a wide variety of lunches and snacks to students, faculty and others
- Assist with the collection of moneys received from the sale of school lunches, snacks and other food stuffs
- Clean and store dishes, utensils, cafeteria equipment and food supplies
- Clean work areas and dispose of refuse
- Assist with wrapping, packing and loading of food for transport to satellite serving kitchen
- Assist in taking inventory
- Supervise student helpers
- Operate mixer, grinder, dishwasher and other kitchen equipment
- Perform other duties as requested
