- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Two year associate degree preferred
Job Duties
- Collect the final tray list for assigned patient units from communication center clerk for each meal
- Check meal delivery trucks for supplies and condiments
- Serve meals to patients in a professional, efficient manner and check patient’s wristband for identification
- Visit new admissions or changed diets and explain room service meal process and give menu to match the diet order
- Visit diabetic patients and assure meals ordered and delivered as per medication policy
- Assess patient’s ability to utilize room service and follow up with nurse/dietitian if unable to participate
- Assist patients in ordering meals when requested, offer pre-select meal sheets choice to patient/family and collect the same for communication center to process meal
- Collect dirty trays from patient’s room into the truck and bring truck to dish room after each meal time
- Process diet requisitions retrieved from nursing stations
- Deliver between meal nourishments to patients
- Mediate patients' concerns regarding meal service
- Act as a liaison between food & nutrition department, the patient and the nursing staff
- Take ownership of problems and ensure positive outcomes
- Assist supervisor in portioning food, coffee or silverware
- Serve as a quality assurance control point for every aspect of the room service program
- Check off patient’s name on tray list upon tray delivery and record time of delivery
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Work every other weekend
- Work variable shifts as a part-time employee
