Job Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English
  • Multnomah County Food Handler's Card within one week of hire

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English
  • Multnomah County Food Handler's Card within one week of hire
  • Must be able to perform essential functions with or without accommodation
  • Compliance with Code of Conduct, Respect in the workplace, and applicable policies
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One year of experience in a commercial food service facility preferred
  • Six months customer service experience in a fast-paced hospital food service environment preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepares simple foods such as salads, dressings, sandwiches, eggs, fruit, and pudding
  • Sets up tray stations with standard items and places items according to tray diagrams
  • Works assembly positions adding entrees, starches, vegetables, gravies, beverages, and condiments
  • Monitors temperatures of entrees, soups, and cold items
  • Uses proper portion control and assures trays are complete
  • Runs for items as directed and cleans workstations
  • Operates dish machines, sorts trays, cleans dish areas, and maintains cleanliness
  • Loads and delivers meal carts efficiently, communicates with unit staff for timely delivery
  • Picks up soiled trays and carts from nursing units
  • Follows food safety and sanitation procedures including proper use of utensils, gloves, chemicals, and handwashing
  • Maintains cleanliness of work areas and ensures refrigeration needs are met
  • Supports sustainability through recycling and composting initiatives
  • Prevents waste using FIFO and proper portioning tactics
  • Provides positive customer service and promotes service excellence philosophy
  • Interacts with patients and guests in a courteous and professional manner
