Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 0-1 years food service and/or sanitation experience
  • cash handling experience
  • ability to follow HACCP guidelines and health code regulations
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • ability to interact effectively with patients, visitors and staff
  • ability to manage time and work schedule effectively

Job Duties

  • Prepares simple food products both hot/cold and serves portioned food to patients, visitors and hospital staff in accordance with HACCP procedures
  • Dates and labels all products moving through their work/production area
  • Properly prepares and handles foods and equipment to ensure infection control and safety
  • Maintains a clean, safe and sanitary work area at all times including cleaning equipment, tables, service areas and production areas
  • Cleans and sanitizes all service ware, pots, walls, floors, ceilings, and related food service areas using power equipment like dishwashers and floor scrubbers
  • Manages services, supplies and equipment to ensure effective and economical use especially in portioning and storage of food
  • Learns each area’s individual patient/customer needs and satisfies those needs in a friendly and competent manner
  • Manages money accurately when working registers and is accountable for receipts, merchandise and Health System property and equipment
  • Performs duties in accordance with city and state Health Codes and Joint Commission regulations
  • Follows appropriate HACCP guidelines throughout daily routine
  • Practices personal hygiene according to dress code standards
  • Reports potential infection control issues or violations to supervisor in a timely manner
