Job Description

San Bernardino County Preschool Services Department (PSD) plays a pivotal role in delivering essential early childhood education and care to preschool-aged children throughout the county. The department operates multiple preschool sites offering a range of supportive services including education, nutrition, and health programs. Job Requirements

  • must be able to lift objects up to 40 pounds and assist with small children as needed
  • must pass pre-employment physical including tuberculosis test and required immunizations
  • must obtain and maintain valid San Bernardino County Food Handler's card
  • must have valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile insurance if providing transportation
  • must pass background investigation including fingerprint check and clearance through Child Abuse Index
  • candidates requiring visa sponsorship are not eligible
  • must be able to travel throughout San Bernardino County
  • physical ability to perform duties including standing, walking, bending, and other physical activities required

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior experience in food service or a related field is an advantage but not required
  • ability to work as part of a team
  • good communication skills
  • basic knowledge of food safety principles
  • willingness to obtain food handler's card upon employment

Job Duties

  • prepare and serve nutritious meals to preschool children
  • maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas
  • adhere to food safety and health regulations
  • assist in receiving and storing food deliveries
  • monitor food inventory and report shortages or concerns
  • support preschool staff in maintaining a safe environment for children
  • follow departmental policies and procedures
