Job Requirements

  • One year of experience performing various tasks involving food preparation and serving
  • high school diploma or GED or equivalent education
  • ability to frequently lift or move objects up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 45 pounds
  • physical ability to stand and walk constantly during shifts
  • willingness to adhere to Navy Exchange customer service standards and uniform policies

Job Qualifications

  • One year of experience in food preparation and serving
  • ability to operate kitchen appliances such as grills, microwaves, and deep fryers
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • strong customer service skills with tact and courtesy
  • ability to stand for extended periods and lift objects up to 30 pounds frequently
  • high school education or equivalent preferred
  • ability to follow detailed instructions and work under general supervision
  • basic math skills for handling cash register operations

Job Duties

  • Prepares a limited variety of fast food items involving the use of grill, microwave oven, and deep fryer
  • prepares simple salads and sandwiches
  • makes coffee in large urns according to established procedures
  • sets up food service counters with condiments and stocks hot and cold drink dispensers
  • cleans tables, counters, equipment, and appliances as necessary
  • takes orders and serves customers adhering to portioning requirements
  • replenishes supplies from designated locations
  • may open and close the snack bar location
  • operates a cash register when required
  • maintains neat, clean appearance and wears appropriate uniform and name tag
  • provides courteous and efficient customer service, suggesting substitutes and informing customers of specials
  • ensures food presentation is attractive and appetizing
  • furnishes customers with receipts and thanks them for their patronage
  • works under general supervision following prescribed procedures and instructions
  • performs other related duties as assigned
