Canteen, a division of Compass Group, is actively hiring for a part-time Food Service Worker to join their team at Southwestern Michigan College located at 58900 Cherry Grove Road, Dowagiac, MI. Job Requirements

  • No previous experience required
  • Must be available Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 3:00 pm
  • Availability for weekends and evenings
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and carrying
  • Must comply with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to follow food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Basic math skills for measuring and portioning
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work under supervision and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings
  • Willingness to learn and adhere to company policies

Job Duties

  • Perform prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting and seeding fruits and vegetables
  • Weigh and measure designated ingredients
  • Carry pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards
  • Store food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures
  • Clean work areas, equipment and utensils
  • Distribute supplies, utensils and portable equipment
  • Utilize approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control
  • Serve customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service
  • Resolve customer concerns and relay relevant information to supervisor
  • Ensure compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures
  • Assure compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
