Job Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18
  • Ability to supervise inmate labor and team members
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Physical ability to stand and perform tasks for extended periods

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Supervise inmate labor and team members in kitchen during food preparation and service shifts
  • Prepare and instruct on quality food preparation according to menus and recipes
  • Ensure proper and sanitary storage of all food items
  • Serve food during scheduled meal times following department policies
  • Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment for cooking and serving food
  • Follow all food safety regulations related to sanitation, handling, and storage
  • Train other food service workers
  • Maintain cleanliness of work environment including refrigerators, freezers, and cooking equipment
  • Follow facility uniform policy
  • Manage garbage collection and keep kitchen floors clean
  • Ensure kitchen is clean and ready for food preparation and serving
  • Review portions and utensils for service
  • Promote a healthy and safe work environment
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for long periods
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
