Job Requirements
- high school diploma/GED
- one year of experience in the area of assignment
- or one year of experience at the lower level Food Svc Worker 2 (FFS011) or position equivalent
- an equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma/GED
- at least one year of relevant food service experience
- ability to lead and train other food service workers
- knowledge of federal, state, and department safety and sanitation guidelines
- ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- excellent customer service skills
- strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Job Duties
- work in the preparation, cooking, serving and distribution of food to customers, clients and/or employees
- operate and maintain specialized food service equipment
- perform general facility and equipment sanitation maintenance in accordance with federal, state, and department guidelines
- clean work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware
- clean, peel, slice and trim foodstuffs using manual and electric appliances
- conduct or assist with food supply requisitions and sanitation and maintenance inspections
- coordinate the daily work schedule of cashiers with the cafeteria manager
- monitor the cash registers and cashier's breaks
- observe safety, sanitation and health rules and standards
- portion food or place it directly on plates for service to facility residents, employees or patrons and package takeout foods
- replenish supplies of food, condiments, and equipment at steam tables and service bars
- serve as a lead worker to assigned food service workers
- store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage
- take customers' orders and serve customers
- train workers in food preparation, and in service, sanitation, and safety procedures
- unpack and store supplies, raw and prepared food products
