Job Requirements
- Have a current food handler’s permit or ability to acquire within two weeks
- At least one year of food service experience preferably in a cafeteria
- Ability to consider special dietary needs and food allergies
- Knowledge of safe operation of commercial kitchen equipment
- Ability to use chemical cleansers and sanitizing agents correctly
- Sensitivity when interacting with individuals who are low vision, blind, hearing impaired, deaf, or deaf-blind
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds and push or pull carts up to 80 pounds
- Able to stand for long periods
- Successful completion of a criminal background check
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous food service experience, preferably in a cafeteria or school setting
- Familiarity with food safety standards and sanitation practices
- Ability to handle special dietary needs and food allergies
- Experience with commercial kitchen equipment and cleaning chemicals
- Sensitivity in communicating with individuals with sensory impairments
- Good physical stamina for standing and lifting
Job Duties
- Bake, cook, prepare, or heat meal components from recipes or instructions
- Assemble dishes for serving including gathering, opening, washing, cutting, mixing, or combining ingredients
- Prepare serving area for breakfast and lunch services
- Serve food and maintain count of students served
- Break down serving line, clean dishes and kitchen, store items properly
- Restock food, condiments, and supplies
- Communicate respectfully with kitchen staff and students
- Ensure food temperatures, sanitation, and storage safety
- Assist others as required in their work activities
