Job Requirements

  • Partial high school education or equivalent
  • minimum six months experience in food preparation/service
  • ability to operate grills, broilers, deep fat fryers, and food processing equipment
  • ability to handle cash and operate point-of-sale systems

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions generally acquired through partial high school education
  • six months of experience in food preparation/service
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
  • experience operating food production and service equipment
  • ability to provide customer service
  • clerical skills for point-of-sale and administrative duties
  • ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • physical ability to perform job functions including lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs
  • excellent communication skills
  • willingness to learn and adhere to health and safety standards

Job Duties

  • Assist in the preparation of foods such as meats, vegetables, baked goods and desserts
  • prepare food including beverages, salads, dressings, sandwiches, and cold plates
  • prepare portioned and fast foods on grill, in broiler, or in deep fat fryer as appropriate
  • operate point-of-sale cash register
  • calculate total cost of items and accept payment in cash, on meal cards, or charge cards
  • perform various clerical duties in food services offices as required
  • provide customer service
  • operate food production equipment including slicers, choppers, dicers, mixers, vertical cutters, patty making machines, and other vegetable, bakery, and meat processing equipment
  • transport food or supplies to serving areas
  • ensure proper setup of areas
  • assemble and replenish food, supplies, and equipment
  • ensure proper temperature of food in steam tables and at counter display
  • take orders, portion, and serve food to customers
  • record portions served according to procedure
  • remove, cover, wrap, label, store, rotate, and discard food and condiments as directed
  • clear soiled dishes and refuse from tables
  • scrape refuse into garbage containers
  • load trays and soiled dishes on conveyors, racks, and carts
  • remove and dispose of trash
  • set up and operate dish machine
  • clean assigned areas following proper sanitation procedures including equipment, counters, work and dining tables, chairs, refrigerators, utensils, and dispensers
  • sweep and mop floors
  • vacuum carpets
  • empty ashtrays
  • ensure supplies, materials and equipment are available and replenished for duties
  • report equipment malfunctions and maintenance needs
  • assist in monitoring work and training employees in proper techniques and use of supplies, materials, and equipment
  • perform other related duties incidental to the work
