Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous food service experience in a hospital setting preferred
  • Food Handlers Certificate required within 30 days
  • basic reading, math, and written English skills
  • good communication and organizational skills

Job Duties

  • Serve food on the cafeteria and patient tray lines, utilizing good customer skills
  • assemble, deliver and retrieve patient trays
  • document food delivery times and food tallies
  • perform temperature checks on equipment and food
  • perform simple food assembly such as preparing salads, portioning and garnishing foods according to instruction
  • clean and sanitize equipment, wares, walls, and floors routinely
  • wash and sanitize dishes, pots and pans, and cooking utensils and equipment according to department standards
  • label and date foods according to HACCP standards
  • follow OSHA safety guidelines for food handling
  • collect and deliver floor stock utilizing FIFO
  • deliver between meal nourishments and late trays according to departmental standards
  • maintain assigned areas and equipment in a safe, clean, neat, and orderly manner
  • dispose of trash and garbage according to standards and procedures
  • follow clean as you go and proper hand hygiene
  • perform other job duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
