Job Requirements

  • must be at least 18 years of age
  • twelve months of experience in food service work required
  • must possess or obtain food safety certification within six months of employment
  • must pass fingerprint criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen
  • must pass registry checks including client abuse/neglect
  • must comply with immunization policies
  • must have valid Texas driver license if driving required or obtain within 90 days
  • males 18-25 must be registered with Selective Service
  • flexibility to work overtime or extended hours

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • twelve months of experience in food service work required
  • ability to prepare and serve food
  • knowledge of food preparation methods and sanitation regulations
  • skills in operating and sanitizing food service equipment
  • ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • ability to maintain accurate records
  • ability to communicate in English
  • ability to work harmoniously with coworkers and patients

Job Duties

  • attends work on a regular basis and may work specific or rotating shifts with possible overtime
  • assists in preparation and portioning of food for special diets following procedures
  • prepares scheduled snacks and maintains snack supply
  • participates in distribution of food safely and sanitarily
  • assists in serving food following food service procedures
  • follows proper food handling according to guidelines
  • receives delivery of food and supplies
  • prepares necessary paperwork accurately and timely
  • follows sanitation and storage procedures for dishes and equipment
  • follows required cleaning procedures for kitchen and food prep areas
  • observes safety procedures and practices
  • trains or assists new kitchen employees
  • participates in disaster response or COOP activation duties
