Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in food service work preferred but not required
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and extended or unusual hours
  • Pass fingerprint criminal background check
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen
  • Pass registry checks including Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS)
  • Comply with Selective Service registration requirement if male between 18 and 25
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
  • Ability to work in variable temperature conditions
  • Ability to follow all safety and sanitation procedures
  • May require driving state vehicle
  • Ability to complete required training and certifications
  • Willingness to participate in disaster response and recovery operations

Job Qualifications

  • Paid or unpaid experience in food service work
  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent
  • Ability to prepare and serve food
  • Ability to maintain sanitation and safety standards
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to use basic math used in cooking and preparation
  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds
  • Ability to work in hot or cold conditions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and residents
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required

Job Duties

  • Attend work on a regular basis and work assigned shift schedule including rotating, extended, and overtime hours
  • Complete required training per policy
  • Assist in preparation and portioning of food for special diets according to food service procedures
  • Prepare scheduled snacks and maintain supply of snack items
  • Participate in distribution of food in a safe and sanitary manner following food service policies
  • Assist in serving food following food service procedures
  • Follow food handling procedures in compliance with federal, state, and HACCP guidelines
  • Receive delivery of food and supplies from vendors as assigned
  • Prepare necessary paperwork accurately and timely
  • Follow sanitation procedures for cleaning kitchen, stock room, food prep areas and satellite areas
  • Observe safety procedures and practices
  • Train or assist in training new food service employees
  • Participate in agency’s disaster response, recovery or COOP activation activities as needed
  • Possibly drive state vehicle to deliver food to homes
