Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required or equivalent
- 1-2 years food preparation experience required
- completion of sanitation and food handlers course preferred
- knowledge of variety of foods their preparation and serving etiquette
- ability to handle heavy workload
- basic knowledge of sanitary methods food safety and HACCP procedures preferred
- ability to follow directions understand written and oral instructions and basic mathematical skills
- courteous and tactful in dealing with customers
- good judgement and initiative
- competency requirements for patient dietary needs

Job Duties
- Makes daily rounds to assigned nursing units communicates with staff and patients collects menus and checks menus for accuracy and completeness
- assists patients in meal selection and completion of menu as needed taking preferences and special diets into account
- enters menu selections into the Computrition system prints out menus and meal tickets and distributes to appropriate persons
- assembles meal trays adhering to mealtime schedules
- delivers trays accurately ensuring patient privacy and consideration
- ensures food items meet standards for appearance temperature and accuracy
- collects patient meal trays and documents food intake
- answers phone calls from nursing units communicates last minute diet changes to catering associates
- performs dipper and runner responsibilities works in dish room
- delivers floor stock and nourishments to drop off units
- follows recipes for salad sandwich and dessert preparation
- sets up dessert sandwich beverage refrigeration snack condiment and hot food stations
- uses displays for specials such as yogurt and soup
- verifies cashiers box and programs register before meal service
- maintains orderly uniform and personal grooming habits while working efficiently as a team member
- sets up and prepares food for catering events per established orders and timeframes
- delivers materials and food to appropriate areas
- ensures food utensils and decorative items meet standards for temperature and appearance
- handles customer service complaints informs management of problems and concerns
- maintains sanitation standards including cleaning refrigerators food carts sweeping and mopping kitchen and prep areas
- gives completed catering slips to ensure correct billing
- exemplifies commitment to caring and patient safety standards
- assumes other duties appropriate to the position and area
