Job Requirements

- previous experience in food service preferred
- ability to stand and walk frequently

Job Duties
- work under general supervision of a food service supervisor and follow established procedures and job flows
- assemble trays for patients
- clean assigned area and equipment after meal service
- deliver food to patient floors
- deliver trays directly to patients
- work in the truck room and dish room area
- check in daily food and non-food items for tray line and store them in a sanitary manner
- obtain and stock all items necessary to operate tray line from other areas of the department
- ensure that tray line operations run in an efficient manner
- work assigned station on tray line/POD - hot server, builder, checker
- prepare and deliver patient food trays
- organize dirty dishes, trays, etc. to be placed in dish machine
- unload dish machine and transport clean dishes to tray line area
- clean, sanitize, dry patient food trucks
- prepare workstation along tray line/POD including assembling utensils, proper containers and plates in appropriate quantity for meal service
- alert appropriate personnel if additional products or supplies are needed
- report issues such as incorrect temperature, poor appearance, or unacceptable food quality
- break down and restock all workstations when meal service is complete
- wash assigned area of tray line/POD
- stock all refrigerators and check temperatures
- report any problems with equipment or refrigeration to supervisor
- clean and polish stainless steel, reach-in coolers and freezers
- deliver food trucks to patient floors and assure all food trucks are secured
- pick up food tray trucks from patient floors after each meal period
- deliver outpatient/inpatient meals to various departments as needed
- pick up and store supplies from the DSC
- rotate all stock according to FIFO procedures
- sweep and mop tray line area and hallway
- remove all accumulated trash to refuse area
- remove empty milk and bread crates to the DSC
- answer telephone calls and report needs to the supervisor
- handle food, supplies and equipment in accordance with regulations
- maintain customer service orientation and uphold patient rights and confidentiality
