Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of food service experience
  • knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control
  • ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions
  • ability to read and write
  • ability to understand and follow safety procedures
  • ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
  • ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects
  • knowledge of food service lines set-up and temperature requirements
  • skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods
  • knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards

Job Duties

  • assemble trays for patients
  • clean assigned area and equipment after meal service
  • deliver food to patient floors
  • deliver trays directly to patients
  • work in truck room and dish room area
  • check in daily food and non-food items for tray line and store them in a sanitary manner
  • obtain and stock all items necessary to operate tray line from other department areas
  • ensure that tray line operations run efficiently
  • work assigned station on tray line/POD - hot server, builder, checker
  • prepare and deliver patient food trays
  • organize dirty dishes, trays, etc. to be placed in dish machine
  • unload dish machine and transport clean dishes to tray line area
  • clean, sanitize, and dry patient food trucks
  • prepare workstation with utensils and containers for meal service
  • alert appropriate personnel if additional supplies or products are needed or if issues arise with food quality or temperature
  • break down and restock workstations
  • wash tray line/POD area
  • stock refrigerators and check temperatures
  • report equipment or refrigeration problems to supervisor
  • clean and polish stainless steel, coolers, freezers
  • deliver and secure food trucks on patient floors
  • pick up and store supplies
  • rotate stock according to FIFO procedures
  • sweep and mop tray line area and hallway
  • remove trash
  • answer telephone calls and report needs to supervisor
  • handle food, supplies and equipment according to all regulations
  • maintain patient rights and confidentiality
  • provide customer service oriented support
