Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2-3 years of work experience in food service
  • valid Food Handlers Card
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • basic math skills for cash handling
  • effective communication skills
  • availability to work various shifts
  • compliance with safety and hygiene standards

Job Duties

  • Responsible for setup and assembly of meals from tray-line or kitchen
  • reads production orders on color-coded menu cards and places items on trays
  • apportions and places food servings on plates and trays per diet list
  • examines completed trays for accuracy and places on carts or conveyors
  • sets up stations with entrees, soups, salads, breads, condiments, utensils
  • serves and replenishes food from counters and steam tables
  • brews coffee and tea
  • stocks beverage areas and grab-and-go items
  • prepares dining areas before meals and cleans after service
  • operates cash register, processes payments, makes change, issues receipts
  • maintains security of cash and follows cash-handling policies
  • assists in reconciling transactions and operates peripheral equipment
  • interacts with customers assisting with food service needs
  • cleans and sanitizes workstations, counters, steam tables, and equipment
  • washes dishes and cleans kitchen and dining areas
  • takes and inputs patient meal orders
  • assists patients in ordering food
  • assembles trays and serves food in cafe
  • attends training on allergy, foodborne illness, safety, and compliance
  • complies with company safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines
  • practices confidentiality and integrity
  • performs other assigned duties as needed
