Job Requirements

  • paid or unpaid experience in food service work
  • graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent
  • some work experience
  • willingness to work weekends and holidays
  • ability to pass fingerprint criminal background check
  • ability to pass pre-employment drug screening
  • ability to pass registry checks including Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System and other mandated registries
  • registration with Selective Service for males aged 18 to 25
  • must be at least 18 years old
  • ability to work flexible hours including overtime and extended shifts
  • ability to pass random drug testing
  • may be required to drive a state vehicle to deliver food
  • must follow food safety guidelines and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • paid or unpaid experience in food service work
  • graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent
  • some work experience
  • 6 months experience in food service work preferred
  • knowledge of food preparation methods and sanitation regulations
  • skill in operating and sanitizing food service equipment
  • ability to prepare and serve food
  • ability to clean dining, serving and food preparation areas according to standards
  • ability to maintain accurate records
  • ability to speak and read English
  • ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • basic math skills for cooking and preparation
  • physical ability to lift at least 25 pounds
  • ability to work in hot and cold conditions
  • ability to stand or walk on hard floors for long periods
  • ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and residents

Job Duties

  • attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work specific or rotating shifts including overtime
  • completes required training per policy
  • assists in preparation and portioning of food for special diets
  • prepares scheduled snacks and supplements and maintains supply of snack items
  • participates in distribution of food in a safe and sanitary manner
  • assists in serving food following food service procedures
  • follows proper food handling in accordance with food service procedures, state, federal and HACCP guidelines
  • receives delivery of food and supplies from vendors as assigned
  • prepares necessary paperwork accurately and timely
  • follows procedures for sanitation and storage of dishes and food service equipment
  • cleans kitchen, stock room, food preparation and satellite areas maintaining sanitation standards
  • observes safety procedures and practices
  • trains or assists in training new food service employees
  • participates in disaster response and continuity of operations plan activations as required
