Job Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- Pass fingerprint criminal background check
- Pass pre-employment drug screen
- Pass registry checks including Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS) and Employee Misconduct
- Males 18-25 must be registered with Selective Service
- Willingness to work weekends and holidays
- Flexibility to work overtime and/or extended hours
- Ability to lift minimum of 25 pounds
- Ability to follow food safety and kitchen sanitation procedures
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Commitment to work in hot and/or cold environments
- Ability to operate a state vehicle if required
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Complete required training as per policy
Job Qualifications
- Paid or unpaid experience in food service work
- Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent
- Some work experience
- Preferred 6 months experience in food service work
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to work in hot and cold conditions
- Ability to stand and walk on hard floors for extended periods
- Ability to speak and read English
- Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and residents
- Knowledge of food preparation methods and sanitation regulations
- Skill in operating and sanitizing food service equipment
- Valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain within 90 days preferred
Job Duties
- Attends work on a regular basis and adheres to assigned shift schedules including weekends and holidays
- Completes required training per agency policy
- Assists in preparation and portioning of food for special diets following food service procedures
- Prepares scheduled snacks and maintains snack supply
- Distributes and serves food safely and sanitarily per food service policies
- Follows proper food handling, sanitation, and storage procedures in compliance with federal, state, and HACCP guidelines
- Receives deliveries of food and supplies, and prepares necessary paperwork timely and accurately
- Cleans kitchen, stock room, food preparation, and serving areas according to sanitation standards
- Trains or assists in training new food service workers to ensure knowledgeable staff
- Participates in agency disaster response or COOP activation as assigned
- May operate state vehicle to deliver food to homes
