Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Twelve months of food service experience
  • Willingness to obtain food safety certification within six months
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ability to work various shifts including overtime
  • Pass fingerprint criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen
  • Comply with immunization policies
  • Possess or obtain valid Texas driver license if driving is required
  • Must provide certified driving record if out-of-state driver license
  • Male applicants aged 18-25 must be registered with Selective Service

Job Qualifications

  • Twelve months of experience in food service work
  • Ability to speak and read English
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to complete basic math common to cooking and food preparation
  • Ability to work cooperatively with coworkers and patients
  • Knowledge of food preparation methods
  • Knowledge of food storage standards and sanitation regulations
  • Skills in operating and sanitizing food service equipment
  • Must obtain food safety certification within first six months of employment

Job Duties

  • Prepare, portion, and distribute food for regular and therapeutic diets
  • Sanitize kitchen equipment, dishes, utensils, pots, and pans
  • Follow federal, state, and HACCP food safety guidelines
  • Receive deliveries of food and supplies
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and food preparation areas
  • Assist and train new food service workers
  • Participate in disaster response and COOP activation as needed
