Job Requirements

  • One of the following is required: paid or unpaid experience in food service work
  • or graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent
  • or some work experience
  • Ability to speak and read English
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to stand and walk on hard floors for extended periods
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must pass fingerprint criminal background check, drug screen, and registry checks
  • Males 18-25 must be registered with Selective Service
  • Willingness to work in hot and cold conditions

Job Qualifications

  • Paid or unpaid experience in food service work
  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent
  • Some work experience
  • Ability to prepare and serve food
  • Ability to maintain sanitation and cleanliness
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to use basic math for cooking and preparation
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
  • Ability to work in varying temperature conditions
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others

Job Duties

  • Attend work on a regular basis and comply with assigned shift schedules and agency policies
  • Complete required training per policy
  • Assist in preparation and portioning of food for special diets following food service procedures
  • Prepare scheduled snacks and maintain supply of snack items
  • Participate in distribution of food safely and sanitarily according to food service policies
  • Assist in serving food by following food service procedures
  • Follow proper food handling in compliance with food service procedures, state, federal, and HACCP guidelines
  • Receive delivery of food and supplies from vendors as assigned
  • Prepare necessary paperwork timely and correctly
  • Follow procedures for sanitation and storage of dishes and food service equipment
  • Follow sanitation procedures for cleaning kitchen, stock room, food preparation, and satellite areas
  • Observe safety procedures and practices
  • Train or assist in training new food service employees to ensure knowledgeable staff
  • Participate in agency's disaster response or COOP activities as assigned
  • May be required to operate a state vehicle to deliver food to homes
