Situated within an 11-acre academic cancer campus in Irvine, City of Hope Orange County hosts the Lennar Foundation Cancer Center—its state-of-the-art outpatient cancer center—and is preparing to open Orange County's only dedicated cancer specialty hospital in late 2025. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
  • Ability to assist in food preparation and serving
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to operate kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness of work areas
  • Ability to follow training and safety guidelines
  • Good communication and customer service skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience

Job Duties

  • Assist in preparation of hot and/or cold foods
  • Read recipes and product directions
  • Estimate food requirements
  • Operate kitchen utensils to weigh, measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, grind, stir, strain, season and knead foodstuffs
  • Taste test products
  • Brew coffee and tea
  • Set up stations with entrées, soups, salads, breads, condiments, and utensils
  • Serve and replenish food from counters and steam tables
  • Interact with customers in serving, retail and dining areas
  • Provide general stocking duties in service area
  • Keep records for supplies and equipment
  • Restock beverage areas
  • Inspect workstations for compliance with standards
  • Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment
  • Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment and utensils
  • Wash dishes by hand or using dishwasher
  • Polish silver and wash pots
  • Clean work tables, walls, refrigerators and meat blocks
  • Sweep, mop and clean floors
  • Clean equipment using specific chemicals
  • Remove trash and garbage
  • Attend allergy and foodborne illness in-service training
  • Participate in safety meetings, training and hazard assessments
  • Attend classroom and virtual training programs
  • Work on trayline to distribute food
  • Comply with safety and risk management policies
  • Report all accidents and injuries
  • Follow department policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Maintain integrity and confidentiality
  • Perform related duties as assigned
