Job Description
The Santa Maria-Bonita School District is recognized as the largest school district in Santa Barbara County, serving approximately 17,500 students from pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- valid California Driver's License if required
- insurability by the district's liability insurance carrier
- ability to lift and transport moderately heavy objects
- ability to stand or walk for extended periods
- ability to operate kitchen equipment with dexterity
- ability to carry, push, or pull food trays, carts, materials, and supplies
- ability to reach overhead, above shoulders, and horizontally
- ability to see, hear, and speak to exchange information
- ability to bend at the waist
- willingness to work in food service environment with exposure to heat, cold, sharp objects, and cleaning agents
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- sufficient training and experience to demonstrate knowledge of preparing and serving foods in large quantities
- ability to operate standard food service appliances and equipment
- basic arithmetic and recordkeeping skills
- ability to operate a variety of food service equipment
- ability to collect money and make change accurately
- ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions
- ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
- valid California Driver's License if driving district vehicles
Job Duties
- Clean serving counters, tables, chairs, food containers, and other equipment
- operate dishwasher and wash trays, plates, utensils, and other serving equipment
- assist in setting up food preparation lines
- heat, set up, sell, and serve food to students and faculty
- assist in preparation of food, such as preparing sandwiches, mixing salads and dressings, grating cheese, and preparing fruits and vegetables
- assist in the receiving, loading, unloading, and storing of foodstuffs, rotating stock, supplies, and materials
- clean and store kitchen equipment
- serve as meal checker as assigned
- supervise children in cafeteria as assigned
- perform basic recordkeeping activities as assigned
- perform related duties as assigned
