Job Requirements

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions generally acquired through a partial high school education
  • no prior experience required beyond education or training
  • or any equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
  • ability to move throughout dining facilities
  • ability to move heavy weighted materials and equipment up to 50 lbs
  • ability for self-movement and positioning to perform light cleaning duties in high and/or low areas
  • ability to position self to reach materials on shelving units
  • ability to transport and stock assigned supplies and materials

Job Duties

  • Assist in the preparation of foods such as meats, vegetables, baked goods and desserts
  • prepare foods including beverages, salads, dressings, sandwiches, and cold plates
  • operate food production equipment including slicers, choppers, dicers, mixers, vertical cutters, patty making machines, and other vegetable, bakery, and meat processing equipment
  • transport food or supplies to serving areas
  • ensure proper setup and replenish food, supplies, and equipment
  • ensure proper temperature and display of food
  • take orders, portion, and serve food to customers
  • record portions served
  • remove, cover, wrap, label, store, rotate, and discard food and condiments as directed
  • clean assigned areas following sanitary procedures
  • sweep, mop floors and vacuum rugs and carpets as needed
  • clear soiled dishes and refuse from tables
  • scrape refuse into garbage containers
  • load trays and soiled dishes on conveyors, racks, and carts
  • remove and dispose of trash
  • set up and operate dish machines
  • sort utensils and inspect cleaned items for quality
  • maintain sufficient stock and supplies
  • unload incoming supplies and equipment
  • assist in receiving, issuing, and transporting materials
  • verify quantity of received goods and report discrepancies
  • stock supplies and deliver to ordering units
  • perform other related duties incidental to the work described here
