Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in food service preferred but not required
- ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- ability to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds
- ability to communicate effectively
- ability to operate kitchen equipment and cash register
- ability to follow safety and hygiene protocols
- availability to work 2 hours per day, 5 days per week during school year
Job Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of food preparation including washing, cutting, and assembling food items and ingredients
- basic math skills
- familiarity with standard kitchen equipment, utensils, and measurements
- knowledge of sanitation practices related to handling and serving food
- basic record-keeping techniques
- ability to use common cooking utensils and equipment
- ability to follow oral and written instructions
- ability to perform work on a schedule
- ability to work cooperatively with students and adults
- ability to perform simple arithmetic computations
- ability to perform simple and repetitive tasks
- ability to maintain food service equipment and areas in a clean and sanitary condition

Job Duties
- Set up steam tables and food bars
- serve food
- store food
- prepare lunch carts for service at designated sites on campus
- unload and clean carts and other service locations
- operate a dishwashing machine
- wash pots and pans
- fill straw and napkin holders
- stock milk refrigerators
- clean tables, appliances, cupboards, and other cafeteria equipment
- complete simple clerical reports of food counts and items sold and served
- assist in the preparation of food
- wash, slice, grate, and chop foods
- prepare salads as directed
- assist in making salad dressings and preparing sandwich spreads
- grill hamburgers and cheese sandwiches and bake cookies and other items as assigned
- collect and count lunch money and make changes as assigned
- operate a la carte locations and sell food to students
- operate a computer and cash register as assigned
- perform related duties as assigned
