Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- experience in food preparation or food service preferred
- ability to obtain valid Food Handler's Certificate upon hiring
- ability to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds
- ability to stand for long periods
- basic math skills
- ability to follow oral and written directions
- ability to communicate effectively
- ability to work cooperatively with others
- current letters of recommendation dated within one year must be attached with application

Job Duties
- Wash and prepare eating and serving areas
- set up steam tables
- set out trays, food and beverages
- portion and serve food to students and staff according to established procedures
- prepare fruits, vegetables and other foods for serving or cooking
- assist in preparing foods such as salads, hot and cold sandwiches, sliced meats and sliced or grated cheese
- maintain work areas and serving areas in a sanitary manner
- wash and clean counters and steam tables
- clean and store plates, utensils, pots and pans, trays and kitchen equipment
- assist in storing unused food and supplies according to established procedures
- dispose of unusable leftovers and garbage
- operate and clean a variety of standard kitchen equipment such as dishwasher, slicers, graters, can openers, steam tables, ovens and plastic wrap sealing machine
- provide work direction to student helpers as assigned
- perform related duties as assigned
