Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in food service or related field preferred
- Ability to follow strict food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Physical ability to perform duties including lifting and standing for extended periods
- Good communication skills
- Willingness to wear required uniforms and personal protective equipment
- Availability to work flexible hours
Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of the needs of allergen-sensitive consumers
- Food Service Certificate, as required
- Adequate education or training to read, write, and follow both verbal and written instructions in an allergen-conscious kitchen and preparation area
- Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and concisely under pressure
- Strong knowledge of food preparation practices in an allergen-conscious environment, with a focus on preventing cross-contamination
Job Duties
- Ensure all utensils and equipment are separate for gluten-free and non-gluten-free items to avoid cross contamination
- Use separate prep areas for gluten-free and regular food to avoid cross-contamination
- Train staff on the importance of cleaning surfaces thoroughly to prevent gluten exposure
- Label all gluten free products clearly to avoid cross-contamination or contact
- Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned allergen conscious menu
- Prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
- Understand what is inclusive of a meal that is allergen free
- Ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
- Serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
- Use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
- Timely preparation of a variety of food items, beverages, and add garnishments to ensure customer happiness and eye appeal
- Coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
- Adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
- Adhere to the uniform policy
- Connect with the Manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
- Supervise the food temperature requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
- Scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables, and other equipment
- Follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, to ensure a balanced and safe environment
- Maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
- Perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
- Meet physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing
