Job Requirements

  • Food Handlers Card within 30 days
  • availability to work varied shifts including weekdays, holidays, early mornings, and late evenings
  • no prior experience required
  • ability to meet training and safety expectations
  • must satisfy security requirements related to critical infrastructure
  • ability to move between locations or shifts as operational needs change

Job Qualifications

  • Successful completion of the MD Anderson apprenticeship program or 9 months completion of the program can be substituted for a maximum of 1 year of experience

  • ability to follow written instructions and work effectively in a team environment

Job Duties

  • Perform simple food preparation by following established written recipes
  • provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and colleagues
  • clean and sanitize surfaces including floors, drains, and walls
  • follow established cleaning and sanitizing procedures
  • clean and sanitize equipment and smallware using approved procedures
  • safely handle chemicals and operate a three-compartment sink
  • properly store all equipment, chemicals, and utensils
  • operate dish and pot washing machines according to proper procedures
  • dispose of trash and operate trash compactors following established guidelines
  • perform other duties as assigned
  • move to new locations or shifts as operational needs dictate
  • participate in cross-training, which may include shift changes
