Job Requirements

  • Must obtain Texas Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of hire
  • Availability to work rotating weekday shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Ability to perform simple food preparation and serve food according to portion standards
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • Must be able to work onsite at MD Anderson Cancer Center
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts and locations
  • Ability to lift and carry items related to food service duties

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous fast-food or food service experience preferred
  • Ability to obtain Texas Food Handlers Certification within 30 days
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Positive attitude and commitment to teamwork
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to follow recipes and food preparation guidelines

Job Duties

  • Serve food to customers according to portion control standards
  • Perform simple food preparation by following established recipes
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors and employees
  • Assist with food selections, offer explanations and directions
  • Take trays and assist wheelchair patients at tables
  • Check and replenish food, paper goods, and utensils
  • Market food items by arranging displays appealingly
  • Maintain daily computerized unit work order records
  • Clean tables and chairs in eating areas
  • Maintain trash receptacles
  • Ensure proper food temperatures are checked and recorded
  • Maintain assigned work areas clean and sanitary
  • Use and care for all equipment
  • Clean spills on the floor
  • May be moved to new locations or shifts as required
  • Cross training and shift changes may occur
