Job Requirements

  • High school academic diploma or equivalent
  • minimum one year cooking experience in an institutional setting
  • ServeSafe certification within 90 days of employment
  • ability to work irregular or extended hours
  • ability to work in warm and cold environments
  • physical ability to lift, pull, and push materials up to 80 pounds
  • ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • ability to read and follow nutritional instructions and product labels
  • ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality

Job Qualifications

  • High school academic diploma or equivalent
  • minimum one year cooking experience in an institutional setting
  • sufficient experience in food preparation to prepare meals independently
  • ServeSafe certification obtained within 90 days of employment
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred but not required
  • ability to read, interpret, and follow nutritional communications, recipes and product labels
  • ability to work with math figures and keep financial and utilization records
  • quality control conscious
  • ability to maintain professionalism and establish positive relationships with diverse populations
  • ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality including HIPAA standards

Job Duties

  • Prepares and serves meals
  • uses basic cooking utensils and equipment
  • inspects kitchen and dining areas, utensils, and equipment to ensure sanitary and licensing standards are met
  • assists in maintaining food inventories
  • prepares and places food items for storage in designated areas
  • operates dishwashing equipment
  • cleans work areas, equipment, and utensils while maintaining high sanitary standards
  • maintains security for work area and food inventories
  • may train other kitchen staff
