Job Description

The Langley Air Force Base, situated in Virginia, is home to a variety of operational and support facilities, including the Langley Hospital and its associated Coffee kiosks. Job Requirements

  • Must complete background investigation with favorable results
  • Must have food handler’s certificate or complete food handler’s training
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment physical
  • Must be willing to work shift work including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be physically capable of frequent lifting up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend
  • Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship or relevant allegiance
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with Selective Service
  • Must comply with direct deposit requirements
  • Must pass employment verification (E-Verify)
  • May be required to complete a probationary period
  • Must be able to provide REAL ID or authorized combination of identity documents for installation access

Job Qualifications

  • Must be able to follow simple oral instructions
  • Skilled in using hand tools and operating simple machines
  • Knowledge of sanitation standards in food handling and work area cleaning
  • Physical ability to lift or move up to 40 pounds frequently
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend continuously
  • Experience in food preparation or service is preferred but not mandatory
  • Must complete food handler certification or training
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment physical
  • Must be U.S. Citizen, National, or owe allegiance to the U.S.
  • Eligible applicants include military spouses, veterans, and others with priority consideration
  • Ability to work shift schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Operates off-site coffee operation, prepares hot and cold beverages, serves simple menu items, receives payments and operates cash register
  • Sets up and cleans work area, cleans tables, replenishes condiment items, operates dishwashers and performs maintenance
  • Handles heavy cleaning tasks including ceilings, exhaust hoods, floors, walls, refrigerators, and freezers
  • Unloads and organizes food and supplies from delivery trucks
  • Assists in stock replenishment and inventory control, prepares cash accountability documentation
  • Performs opening and closing procedures including financial paperwork
