Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience
- Ability to work weekday and weekend shifts including early mornings and evenings
- Physical ability to stand, lift, bend, push, kneel, and walk for extended periods
- Must adhere to facility uniform policy
- Ability to follow food safety and sanitation regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience
- Knowledge of food handling regulations
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Dependable and flexible work ethic
Job Duties
- Supervise inmate labor and/or team members in the kitchen during food prep and food service shifts
- Prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and/or team members in the preparation of quality foods according to planned menu, recipes, and work instructions
- Ensure that all food is stored properly and in sanitary manner
- Serve food during planned meal schedules according to department policies and procedures
- Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare and serve food according to recipes
- Follow all food safety regulations pertaining to sanitation, food handling and storage
- Train other food service workers
- Maintain a clean work area/environment including cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, cooking equipment and serving equipment
- Follow facility uniform policy
- Keep up with garbage collection and maintain kitchen floors clean from excess food/trash
- Ensure kitchen is kept clean and environment is ready for food prep/serving including sweeping, mopping and dishwashing
- Review proper portions and utensils for service
- Promote a healthy and safe work environment for other employees/inmates
- Perform other related duties as assigned
