Job Requirements

- must pass DHS background check when conducted
- a tuberculosis screening or chest x-ray is required prior to employment
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of materials and methods used in preparing food
- knowledge of care and use of cooking utensils and equipment
- knowledge of food values and nutrition
- ability to perform simple cooking on a large scale
- ability to plan and prepare small meals
- ability to perform simple cleaning and food service tasks
- ability to follow instructions
- must be at least 18 years of age
Job Duties
- Prepare small quantities of food for special diets
- dish up food, place dishes on carts, move carts, and serve food
- peel vegetables, make toast and coffee, and perform simple cooking tasks
- serve portions on a cafeteria line
- wait on tables
- wash dishes and utensils
- sweep, scrub, and mop floors
- clean walls, cupboards, and furniture
- operate a dishwashing machine
- move food between storerooms, kitchen and serving areas
- observe standard sanitation and safety standards
