Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Suitable for federal employment determined by background investigation
  • Pass urine drug screening for illegal drugs
  • Selective Service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
  • Completion of online onboarding process including acceptable identification
  • Completion of all application requirements
  • Ability to serve a one-year probationary period
  • Physical ability to perform moderate to heavy physical work such as standing, walking, lifting up to 40 pounds with assistance
  • Availability to work various shifts including day, evening, and night

  • Understanding of work practices related to food service
  • Experience in similar food service environment preferred but not required

Job Duties

  • Clean serving areas by sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning/sanitizing work surfaces and other food service equipment such as refrigerators, toaster, and coffee machines
  • Clean production equipment including steam jacketed kettles, tilt skillets using appropriate and safe sanitation techniques
  • Load and operate dishwashers and cart washing station
  • Perform necessary preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Transport tray carts to wards and individually deliver trays directly to the patient’s bedside or assist patients with transport of their meal trays
  • Set-up serving areas with hot and cold foods, keeping foods appropriately stocked during meal service
  • Identify discrepancies between the prescribed diet and/or listed food allergies and the food items listed on the tray ticket
  • Assemble a variety of items while working in cold food preparation and nourishment area
  • Make cold sandwiches using prepared ingredients
  • Perform other duties as assigned
