Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • suitability for federal employment determined by background investigation
  • pass urinalysis drug test prior to appointment
  • selective service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
  • complete online onboarding and pre-employment identification requirements

  • serve one-year probationary period
  • comply with influenza vaccination or obtain exemption
  • ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 20 pounds unassisted and over 40 pounds with assistance

Job Duties

  • Clean serving areas by sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, and other food service equipment such as refrigerators, toaster, and coffee machines
  • Clean production equipment including steam jacketed kettles and tilt skillets using appropriate sanitation techniques
  • Load and operate dishwashers and cart washing stations
  • Perform necessary preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Transport tray carts to wards and deliver trays directly to patients or assist patients with meal tray transport
  • Set up serving areas with hot and cold foods, keeping foods stocked during service
  • Identify discrepancies between prescribed diets, allergies, and tray tickets
  • Assemble items in cold food preparation and nourishment areas
  • Make cold sandwiches using prepared ingredients
  • Perform other assigned duties
