Job Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • valid ServSafe Certification at time of application
  • ability to perform various food preparation and service tasks
  • physical ability to push carts and move food supplies
  • willingness to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays
  • must pass pre-employment physical
  • comply with safety sensitive position screenings including criminal background check, drug and alcohol testing
  • must provide COVID-19 vaccination proof or exemption
  • ability to maintain residency if resident preference benefits are applied

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • valid ServSafe Certification
  • knowledge of food service sanitation and infection control
  • ability to use and care for kitchen utensils and equipment
  • experience with food preparation in a hospital or inpatient environment
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and neatness
  • record-keeping skills
  • ability to follow safety and hygiene guidelines
  • effective communication skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare food for cooking by washing, sorting, counting, peeling, and dicing fruits and vegetables
  • prepare salad ingredients
  • count and pan eggs for cooking
  • break eggs for scrambling or other purposes
  • slice tomatoes
  • pull cooked meat from bones
  • pan meat such as bacon, sausage, or fish for next day's meals
  • open canned food containers
  • place vegetables in cooking vessels
  • grease pans for broiling and baking
  • make bottles and label juices and nourishments
  • help load food carts and containers
  • push carts to and from serving areas or accompany delivery trucks
  • clean kitchen areas, wash pots and pans, clean food carts
  • carry out trash and clean trash areas
  • mop floors and wash walls
  • clean loading forms and adjacent areas used by food service personnel
  • assist in receiving foodstuffs and supplies, inventory and store them
  • clean storerooms and refrigerators as necessary
  • attend and participate in training classes
  • maintain food and refrigerator temperature records
  • assure proper care and use of dietary equipment
  • perform food service duties at luncheons and special affairs
  • assist other units as necessary due to personnel shortages
