  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Availability to work some weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand and be on feet for extended periods

  • Understanding of food handling regulations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience is preferred

Job Duties

  • Supervise inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food preparation and service shifts
  • Prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and team members in the preparation of quality foods according to planned menus, recipes, and work instructions
  • Ensure that all food is stored properly and in a sanitary manner
  • Serve food during planned meal schedules and according to department policies and procedures
  • Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food according to recipes
  • Follow all food safety regulations pertaining to sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • Train other food service workers
  • Maintain a clean work area and environment, including cleaning refrigerators, freezers, cooking and serving equipment
  • Follow facility uniform policy
  • Manage garbage collection and keep kitchen floors clean
  • Ensure kitchen is kept clean and ready for food preparation and serving, including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
  • Promote a healthy and safe work environment for employees and inmates
  • Perform physical activities such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
  • Be able to stand and be on feet for much of the shift
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
