Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Food Handlers Certification for the State of Texas
  • Certified through the Texas Association for School Nutrition preferred
  • Meet or exceed six hours of annual training requirements
  • Experience in institutional food service operations
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to use kitchen equipment and handle cleaning chemicals safely

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Food Handlers Certification for the State of Texas required
  • Certification through Texas Association for School Nutrition preferred
  • Meet or exceed six hours of annual training for School Nutrition Programs
  • Experience in institutional food service operations, preferably K-12
  • Ability to read and follow production records and recipes
  • Basic math skills for recipe conversions
  • Knowledge of HACCP sanitation and safety practices
  • Ability to operate large and small kitchen equipment
  • Strong personal work ethic with punctuality and reliability

Job Duties

  • Assist in preparation, service and clean up of food to meet menu requirements
  • Maintain high standards in food production, sanitation and safety practices
  • Follow production records and recipes accurately
  • Adhere to federal, state and local policies and regulations
  • Maintain clean and organized workspaces
  • Support daily operations scheduling and ensure meal components meet USDA and TDA standards
  • Assist with receiving, inspecting and storing food products properly
