Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to stand and be on feet for extended periods
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, and walking
- Prior food service experience preferred
- Understanding of food handling regulations
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

- Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred
- Ability to supervise and instruct others effectively
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties
- Supervise inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food preparation and service shifts
- Prepare or instruct preparation of quality foods according to menus, recipes, and work instructions
- Ensure proper and sanitary storage of all food items
- Serve food according to planned meal schedules and department policies
- Use kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food according to recipes
- Follow all food safety regulations including sanitation, handling, and storage
- Train other food service workers
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas including refrigerators, freezers, cooking and serving equipment
- Adhere to facility uniform policies
- Manage garbage collection and keep kitchen floors clean
- Ensure kitchen environment is ready for food preparation and service
- Promote a healthy and safe work environment
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
- Perform other related duties as assigned
