Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to stand and be on feet for extended periods
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, and walking
  • Prior food service experience preferred
  • Understanding of food handling regulations
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred
  • Ability to supervise and instruct others effectively
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing environments

Job Duties

  • Supervise inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food preparation and service shifts
  • Prepare or instruct preparation of quality foods according to menus, recipes, and work instructions
  • Ensure proper and sanitary storage of all food items
  • Serve food according to planned meal schedules and department policies
  • Use kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food according to recipes
  • Follow all food safety regulations including sanitation, handling, and storage
  • Train other food service workers
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas including refrigerators, freezers, cooking and serving equipment
  • Adhere to facility uniform policies
  • Manage garbage collection and keep kitchen floors clean
  • Ensure kitchen environment is ready for food preparation and service
  • Promote a healthy and safe work environment
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
