Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to stand and be on feet for much of the scheduled shift
- Physical capability to perform lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling and walking
- Availability to work open shifts
- Pass background checks and comply with facility policies
- Commitment to follow all food safety and sanitation regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred
- Solid understanding of food handling regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly
- Dependable and flexible work ethic
Job Duties
- Supervise inmate labor and/or team members in the kitchen during food prep and food service shifts
- Prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and/or team members in the preparation of quality foods according to the planned menu, recipes, and work instructions
- Ensure that all food is stored properly and in a sanitary manner
- Serve food during planned meal schedules and according to department policies and procedures
- Utilize kitchen utensils/equipment to cook, prepare and serve food according to recipes
- Follow all food safety regulations pertaining to sanitation, food handling and storage
- Train other food service workers
- Maintain a clean work area/environment including cleaning of refrigerators/freezers, cooking and serving equipment
- Follow facility uniform policy
- Keep up with garbage collection and ensure kitchen floors are clean
- Ensure kitchen is kept clean and ready for food prep/serving including sweeping, mopping and dishwashing
- Promote a healthy and safe work environment
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking and standing for extended periods
- Perform other related duties as assigned
