Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one year of full-time experience as a Food Service Worker I
  • ability to pass a pre-employment physical and medical assessment
  • successful completion of background and reference checks including Department of Justice fingerprinting
  • valid Driver License (if driving on county business) or ability to provide approved transportation
  • must present original Social Security Card and valid Driver License or State ID prior to first day of work
  • ability to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • willingness to work safely with potentially hazardous and infectious substances

Job Qualifications

  • One year of full-time experience as a Food Service Worker I
  • relevant work experience in a hospital setting is highly desirable
  • thorough knowledge of methods of preparing food in large quantities
  • knowledge of kitchen sanitation and safety measures used in operation, cleaning, and care of utensils and equipment
  • ability to read, understand, and follow recipes
  • ability to judge quantities of food needed to prepare with minimum waste
  • ability to organize and oversee others
  • ability to comprehend and complete administrative tasks in English

Job Duties

  • Read, understand, and follow recipes to prepare food in a tasty and attractive manner
  • judge the quantities of food required to serve a given number and prepare food with a minimum of waste
  • perform a combination of skilled and semiskilled duties assisting or assuming duties of bakers, cooks preparing special diet meals, dietitian aide, etc
  • organize and oversee the work of others
  • comprehend, read, write, and understand English to follow oral and written instructions and complete administrative forms
  • oversee the setting up of trays or clearing of dining room
  • maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers, public, and supervisors
  • learn large-scale kitchen procedures
