Job Requirements

- Minimum age of 18
- Ability to work in a correctional facility environment
- Physically able to perform tasks including lifting and standing for long periods
- Compliance with all food safety regulations
- Dependability and flexibility

- Ability to supervise and manage inmate labor and team members

- Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred

Job Duties
- Supervise inmate labor and team members during food preparation and service shifts
- Prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and team members in food preparation according to menus and work instructions
- Ensure proper and sanitary food storage
- Serve food during scheduled meal times following department policies
- Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment properly to cook, prepare, and serve food
- Follow all food safety regulations related to sanitation, food handling, and storage
- Train other food service workers
- Maintain a clean kitchen area including cleaning refrigerators, freezers, cooking and serving equipment
- Enforce facility uniform policy
- Manage garbage collection and keep kitchen floors clean
- Ensure kitchen is ready for food preparation and serving by sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
- Review proper food portions and utensils for service
- Promote a healthy and safe work environment
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, standing for long periods
- Perform other related duties as assigned
