Job Requirements

  • Ability to read English and follow instructions
  • at least one year previous food service or customer service experience
  • high school degree or equivalent preferred
  • food safety manager or Serv-Safe certification highly desirable
  • ability to perform moderately heavy lifting of 20-40 pounds
  • ability to stand, walk, and perform physical movements for prolonged periods
  • effective communication skills including speech, sight, and hearing

Job Duties

  • Assist in the preparation of foods such as meats, vegetables, baked goods, and desserts
  • prepare foods including beverages, salads, dressings, sandwiches, and cold plates
  • operate food service equipment including slicers, mixers, vertical cutters, choppers, Robot Coupe, blender, dish machine, and other related equipment
  • transport food or supplies to designated areas and transport carts/trucks as required
  • pass meal trays to patients following proper procedures
  • assemble and replenish food, supplies, and equipment as necessary
  • ensure proper temperatures of food in steam tables, refrigerators, and cold tables
  • read orders and serve proper portions to patients
  • remove, cover, wrap, label, date, store, rotate, and discard food and condiments per policy
  • clean assigned areas following sanitary procedures
  • sweep and mop floors as needed
  • clean soiled dishes and sort refuse
  • load soiled dishes onto conveyor, racks, and carts
  • set up and operate dish machine for cleaning dishes, trays, silverware, mugs, bowls, pots, pans, utensils, and equipment
  • inspect cleaned items for quality
  • maintain sufficient stock and supplies
  • unload incoming supplies and equipment
  • stock supplies and equipment according to prescribed procedures
  • perform other assigned duties
