McConnell Air Force Base (AFB) is home to a variety of essential services supporting the United States Air Force and Space Force missions. Among these, the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) programs play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for active military personnel, their families, and civilian employees. Job Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, National, or owe allegiance to the U.S.
- must pass a background investigation with favorable results
- must obtain a Food Handler's Certificate or complete food handler's training
- must complete a pre-employment physical examination
- must be able to frequently lift or move objects up to 20 pounds unassisted
- must be able to stand, walk, stoop, reach, push and bend for extended periods
- must be able to provide valid identification such as a REAL ID or combination of authorized identity documents to access McConnell AFB
- must register for Selective Service if male born after December 31, 1959
- must complete employment verification (E-Verify)
- direct deposit required
- willing to work permanent intermittent schedule
- must comply with union membership and bargaining agreement
- must meet federal employment eligibility requirements including residency or nationality conditions
Job Qualifications
- Ability to read and understand written and oral instructions
- ability to perform simple tasks learned easily
- manual skill in moving carts and operating kitchen equipment
- knowledge of basic food handling techniques and sanitation standards
- ability to lift or move up to 20 pounds unassisted and over 20 pounds with assistance
- ability to stand, walk, stoop, reach, push and bend for long periods
- ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- experience in food service or food preparation preferred
- customer service skills
- ability to operate dishwashers and clean kitchen equipment
Job Duties
- Sets up glasses, silverware, dishes, trays, napkins, condiments and cold menu items on a serving line
- removes dishes and trays from tables
- prepares food and assists snack bar personnel during busy periods
- operates, breaks down and cleans electrical kitchen equipment
- cleans kitchen equipment including worktables, sinks and refrigerators
- separates food waste and trash in dishwashing area
- loads and operates dishwashers
- stores clean dishes, glasses and silverware
- washes tables and counters
- vacuums and shampoos carpets
- sweeps and mops kitchen floors
- cleans windows, walls and sanitizes trashcans
- sorts, washes, peels and cuts fresh fruits and vegetables
- assists customer service desk with lane assignments, control console operation and shoe rentals
- opens and closes the facility
- assists in fund deposits and prepares necessary accounting documents
- performs other related duties as assigned
