Job Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation
- Subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment
- Selective Services Registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
- Completion of online onboarding process with acceptable identification
- Willingness to serve a one-year probationary period
- Ability to perform light to moderate physical effort, including standing, walking, lifting up to 20 pounds unassisted and 40 pounds with assistance
- Ability to work in hot, humid, and noisy kitchen environments
- Completion of all application requirements
- Non-sensitive low risk position
- No supervisory duties
- Must comply with federal hiring guidelines including resume length and documentation submissions
Job Qualifications
- Experience of sufficient scope and quality to perform the duties of the position
- Ability to perform multi-step food service tasks
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation
- Skill in preparing simple cold dishes and beverages
- Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision
- Good physical stamina to handle standing, walking, lifting, and performing cleaning tasks
- Ability to interpret menus, diet cards, and tray tickets
Job Duties
- Set up assigned station with the correct supplies and food items
- Serve food cafeteria style by placing uniform portions of food on customers' patients' residents' plates
- Break down and clean the station when assigned
- Set up dining room tables for service, place food and beverages on tables, and replenish items as necessary
- Return soiled trays and dishes to the dish room
- Deliver meal trays to the patients' bedsides and report the patients' comments and complaints to the supervisor or dietitian
- Prepare beverages according to the number of servings required
