Job Duties

  • Supervise inmate labor and team members in food preparation and service shifts
  • Prepare and instruct in the preparation of quality foods according to menus and recipes
  • Ensure proper and sanitary storage of all food items
  • Serve food during scheduled meal times according to policies
  • Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook and serve food correctly
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Train other food service workers
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, including refrigerators, cooking, and serving equipment
  • Enforce facility uniform policies
  • Manage garbage collection and kitchen floor cleanliness
  • Ensure kitchen environment is ready for food prep and serving, including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
  • Review food portions and utensils for service accuracy
  • Promote a healthy and safe work environment for all employees and inmates
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
