Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • must be at least 18 years of age
  • ability to stand and be on feet for much of the scheduled shift
  • ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
  • willingness to abide by food safety and sanitation regulations
  • dependable and flexible work ethic
  • ability to work in a fast-paced correctional facility environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • passion for food and service
  • solid understanding of food handling regulations
  • ability to work as a team member as well as independently
  • strong adaptability and multitasking skills
  • dependable and flexible
  • prior institutional food service or restaurant experience is a plus

Job Duties

  • Prepare and assist team members in the preparation of quality foods according to the planned menu, recipes, and work instructions in a timely manner
  • clean as you go and maintain a neat and food safe workstation
  • pull trash, sweep, mop, and perform other cleaning duties within the facility
  • serve food during planned meal schedules according to department policies and procedures
  • utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food according to recipes
  • abide by all food safety regulations pertaining to sanitation, food handling and storage
  • maintain a clean work area including cleaning refrigerators, freezers, cooking equipment, and serving equipment
  • function in a fast-paced environment while being organized and clean
  • keep up with garbage collection and ensure kitchen floors are free from excess food and trash
  • perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
  • perform other related duties as assigned
