Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including early mornings and afternoons
  • Capability to stand and be on feet for extended periods
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to supervise and train staff and inmate labor
  • Strong multitasking and adaptability skills
  • Dependable and flexible
  • Ability to lift, bend, push, kneel, walk, and perform physical tasks during shifts

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Supervise inmate labor and/or team members in the kitchen during food prep and food service shifts
  • Prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and/or team members in the preparation of quality foods according to planned menus, recipes, and work instructions
  • Ensure that all food is stored properly and in a sanitary manner
  • Serve food during planned meal schedules according to department policies and procedures
  • Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare and serve food according to recipes
  • Follow all food safety regulations pertaining to sanitation, food handling and storage
  • Train other food service workers
  • Maintain a clean work area/environment including cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, cooking and serving equipment
  • Follow facility uniform policy
  • Keep up with garbage collection and maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors
  • Promote a healthy and safe work environment for employees and inmates
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
