Job Requirements
- Valid Los Angeles Unified School District Food Handler's Health Certificate obtained upon appointment
- Full-time paid food and beverage industry experience preferred
- Ability to work rapidly and efficiently
- Ability to work cohesively with peers, supervisors, school personnel, and students
- Ability to work in large groups or crowds
- Ability to apply and maintain standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and personal hygiene
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic, count money and make change accurately

Job Duties
- Preparing and producing a variety of foods including soups, entrees, meats, vegetables, desserts, breads, salads, sandwiches, beverages according to the menus, recipes, and production records
- Setting up and merchandising food and food service areas and serving food
- Operating kitchen equipment such as electric mixers, slicers, choppers, and grinders
- Utilizing kitchenware such as knives, spatulas, whisks, tongs, spoons, and ladles
- Practicing safe food handling according to HACCP, LA County Health Department, and LAUSD Food Services Standard Operating Procedures
- Assisting in the monitoring, reduction, and management of food waste
- Cleaning and sanitizing pots, pans, and kitchen utensils
- Performing daily, weekly, and monthly deep cleaning of the facility, service areas, and all kitchen equipment
- Mopping floors and disposing of waste according to Food Services Operating Procedures, OSHA, State, and LA County Health Department guidelines
- Receiving, labeling, and storing food and supplies according to produce and Food Service HACCP Standards
- Assisting in taking inventory
- Assisting in preparing sales, production, and other reports
- May be designated to serve as a cafeteria manager during brief absences
- May accept and count money, tickets, or cards for meals in accordance with National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs
- May disburse tickets for meals to students
- Performing related duties as assigned
